API rate limit

A restriction on how many requests may be made to an API during a defined period.

Limits protect platform stability and fair use. When receiving a rate-limit response, clients should reduce request frequency and follow documented retry guidance rather than create uncontrolled retry storms. The actual threshold for a given Distribution Hub route must be read from current developer documentation.

Key facts

  • Different endpoints may have different limits
  • A 429 response is not fulfilment failure
  • Exponential backoff can reduce retry pressure
